Social Media Marketing

Explained

The ‘dictionary definition’ is as follows: “Social media marketing is the use of social media platforms and websites to promote a product or service. Companies are also able to track the progress, engagement and success of ad campaigns.’ It is not the most detailed explanation, so we will expand it on it below.

Here at Social Blueprints, we use two Social Media platforms; Facebook and Instagram. We use these platforms to market our clients in many different ways. We focus on two aims, the SOCIAL aspect and the MONETARY aspect.

Social

The social aspect of Social Media Marketing is growing the brand of a client online. Using the Social Media platforms’ algorithm to increase awareness of a business and give them exposure unlike they’ve experienced, putting them far ahead of their competition. Facebook has over 1.17Bn monthly active users, your target demographic is there – we just have to focus the content to them.

We target your potential customers based on a few parameters:

  • Their interests, so what they have expressed to Facebook & Instagram that they enjoy doing or seeing content about.
  • Their online behaviour, how they interact with content, how often they purchase online etc; it is a way to target people based on their characteristics and personality.
  • Location, if you want more people, lets say in Leeds; to interact with your posts then the location can be narrowed down or increased accordingly to your objectives.
  • Job Role, Employer and information they have declared to Facebook & Instagram regarding their career.
By using these parameters to find the appropriate demographic for your business, we can then promote content from your company’s accounts and also adverts that we have constructed specifically for engagement (likes, comments & shares) to these people who have expressed an interest in your industry. This audience is then able to view and interact with your content – granting you with much more exposure than you have.

This how companies use Social Media Marketing to grow their brand awareness and dominate their industry on Social Media.

Businesses also use Social Media Marketing to increase revenue and sales within their company.

Paid advertising and reach is used to increase revenue and boost sales or enquires, or anything else that would generate your company more money.

The unique targeting methods, that are used in promoting content and ads to specific audiences for brand awareness and engagement, are also used for the monetary aspect of Marketing on Social Media.

The 4 bullet points are the unique targeting methods.

The client and ourselves have to create our marketing aims and objectives, then from there we can develop our strategy. It could be promoting an advert for a giveaway or clearance sale to your potential customers and directing them to the website. Yet, we could also create an advert to run on Facebook & Instagram to people who like and are looking products or services similar to you and bring them to your website, helping your sales and awareness at the same time.

However, using Social Media Marketing for monetary purposes is not just always simply driving traffic to your ‘shop’ on your website or telling them where your retail store is.

We often implement more long term strategies too. We could develop landing pages which would bring people through targeted adverts to this page, for them to submit their email address. This would be the development of an email list to send news and offers from your company to their email inbox.
